Bach vs Covid (Bahs pret Covid), dir. Ivars Zviedris, 74’, Latvia, 2022

Normunds tries to fight the pandemic's caused depression by playing his cello in Old Riga. He hardly ever has any listeners. The cellist, pigeons and police patrols are nearly the only living souls in the Dome Square.

Normunds doesn't want to return home because he is fed up with his daughter and wife. After 24 years of marriage, he is now left alone with his only friend - the shapely cello.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a true challenge for the planet Earth and its inhabitants: millions of people across all continents have lost their lives and many more have caught the disease. Protests, vaccinations, the death of loved ones and betrayal have put us in a whirl of coping with the pandemic. We are all fighting on our own.
