Born Happy (Laimīgie), dir. Edmunds Jansons 72’, Latvia/Poland

During the school break, nine-year-old Ilze and her family head to the Brazilian rainforest, where they live together with the Pemón tribe close to Devil’s Mountain. One day, she volunteers to look after her three-year-old brother, Alex, but instead becomes engrossed in a book. When she finally looks up, Alex has disappeared. All signs show that he has wandered towards the jungle. Ilze has to find him before their parents return, which leads to some exciting and risky adventures.
