Based on the diary of Arkuss Gunārs Reningers and his experience in the Salaspils concentration camp in 1944, this film features archival materials and prisoners’ drawings as well as the camp’s actual location. It observes the memorial that now stands on the site, where people arrive in groups or individually, showing either interest or boredom, reacting emotionally or indifferently distancing themselves, immersed in their phones, disconnected from the outside world… It tells just as much about our own time as it does about Reninger’s experience here 75 years ago.
