The European Film Academy revealed the nominees for the main categories of the 37th European Film Awards. The nominations are announced in an official nomination video presenting all nominated productions and protagonists. The winners will be revealed in this year’s award ceremony on 7 December in Lucerne, Switzerland. With the recently newly introduced regulation, films from the categories "European Documentary" and "European Animated Feature Film" are also eligible for the category European Film.
Latvian film – feature animation Flow / Straume by Gints Zilbalodis is amongst the nominees for "European Film 2024", as it has been nominated in the category "Best Animated Film".
This is the first year that the European Film Academy has changed the rules of the awards, recognizing that animated and documentary films are also an equal part of the European film culture, so they are also eligible for the Best European Film award, so members of the European Film Academy will also be able to vote for the film Flow / Straume in this category as well, in which the 15 best European films are selected to compete (5 feature films, 5 animated films, 5 documentaries).
