The call for documentary projects is now open for the 30th edition of Baltic Sea Docs, the leading documentary co-production pitching forum, taking place in Riga, Latvia on 6–11 September 2026.
Baltic Sea Docs welcomes applications from independent production companies based in the Baltic Sea region, Eastern Europe, and the Caucasus. Production companies from other European countries may apply if their project is thematically connected to these regions or involves a regional co-producer. Participation is free of charge, offering selected teams the opportunity to strengthen their projects, gain industry feedback, and explore international co-production and financing opportunities.
The BSD pitching sessions will take place on 10–11 September. In addition to projects participating for the first time, up to four projects previously pitched at Baltic Sea Docs and now in post-production will be presented in the Coming Soon session.
Ahead of the pitches, the project teams will participate in a three-day preparatory workshop with an experienced team of tutors, led by international experts – film consultant Tue Steen Müller and documentary developer Mikael Opstrup (Denmark). The forum programme also includes one-on-one meetings, industry seminars, and networking events. A curated film programme will also be screened for audiences in Riga and regional towns across Latvia.
The applications are open until 6 May 2026, and the selected projects will be announced on 4 June 2026. More information about the application process is available at balticseadocs.lv.
Established in Denmark in 1997 and organised since 2006 by the National Film Centre of Latvia, Baltic Sea Docs has served as a key meeting point for documentary filmmakers and industry professionals in the region for 30 years, supporting the development and international circulation of numerous documentary projects from the Baltic Sea region and neighbouring countries.
