At the world's most important animation film festival Annecy International Animation Film Festival the latest feature film "Born in the Jungle" by the internationally acclaimed animation director Edmunds Jansons will have its world premiere. This family adventure film is a co-production of Latvia, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Annecy is the largest and most significant animated film festival in the world, which will take place this year from June 21 to 27. It annually gathers thousands of viewers and industry professionals from all over the world, becoming a place where author animation, the latest technology and the premieres of the world's largest animation studios meet. Last year, more than 130,000 spectators and 18,000 industry professionals attended the festival. The program reflects the most current trends in the animation industry, from experimental and author animation to the latest works of the world's largest commercial studios

In 2019, director Edmunds Jansons and artist Elīna Brasliņa created the widely beloved animated film "Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs", and in the new feature film "Born in the Jungle" they continue their creative cooperation, creating a visually gorgeous, witty and emotionally sincere language of cinema. The film is characterized by bright colors, detailed backgrounds and lively, expressive characters. This time, the creative tandem takes viewers to the rainforests of Venezuela, where courage, responsibility and acceptance are at the heart of the adventure story.

The plot of the film begins during the school holidays, when nine-year-old Elizabeth goes with her family to the rainforests of Venezuela. Now that new friendships have developed for her in the city, life in the jungle no longer attracts her. Even less does she want to look after her little brother Leo. When mom and dad unexpectedly go to the city to the doctor, Elizabeth, fascinated by reading a book, does not notice that Leo disappears into the mysterious jungle. In order to save her brother and creature of an unseen species, Fluffy, Elizabeth dares to explore the secrets of the Venezuelan jungle.

The main roles were voiced by: Matīss Budovskis, Madara Botmane-Vāgentroca, Jānis Kronis, Toms Liepājnieks, the role of Elizabeth was voiced by an eleven-year-old girl - Anabella Jasmina Gerinoviča. The film is produced by the studio "Atom Art" in cooperation with "Letko" (Poland) and "Hausboot" (Czech Republic). International distribution is provided by "Dandelooo" (France). The creation has been financially supported by the National Film Centre of Latvia, the Eurimage, the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, the Polish Film Institute, the Czech Audiovisual Foundation and the Zlín region, Dandelooo, Latvian Television, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons and Kouzelna Animace.

The premiere of the film in Latvia is scheduled in August 20.
