In collaboration with the National Film Centre of Latvia and Latvian Animation Association Festival Scope presents a curated selection of ten short films that higlights the variety of Latvian animation through the years.

Latvian animation is having its golden moment – Gints Zilbalodis’ feature-length animated film Flow has made history as the first-ever Latvian film to receive an Academy Award (Oscar), Golden Globes and European Film Awards as the best animated film among other 70+ awards. Animation has always been a key part of Latvia’s filmmaking since 1960ies. There are numerous production companies working in all possible techniques in long and short form – pushing boundaries and honouring the artistic heritage. This selection of 10 short animations shows just a small part of the grand works of Latvian animation professionals from previous years. We wish to remind the world that there is more than Flow, and there is an amazing animation talent and heart in Latvia.
