Renars is a petty criminal who trades in Western blue jeans to make some extra money. Having landed in an asylum, he begins an underground business manufacturing counterfeit American jeans. The jeans become popular among the Latvian youth and Renars becomes an anonymous underground legend. The KGB searches everywhere for the workshop and eventually starts sniffing around Renars, but can’t prove anything. Little by little, Renars turns into a real rebel, with the jeans becoming a genuine cause and form of protest.
